Polmuz Maple FAT Snare 14x6,5 - Natural Wax

The Polmuz FAT Maple Snare is a go-to snare for pretty much any job - like a naturally aspirated diesel.

A thick 9,4 mm maple shell made of 12 plies has its undeniable upsides: less overtone ring, and with that great cut and an easy time for whoever mixes your tracks. A thick shell doesn't start vibrating that easily, so it's mostly the head doing the talking. A nice, focused sound.

The snare comes with a premium 3-position Dunnett-style throw-off, 2,3 mm hoops, EVANS heads and Puresound wires. Stainless steel screws inside, and the tension rods are stainless too - that's the high quality standard at Polmuz.

Order the same one. This build came out of our workshop in Gdynia. We'll make you the same instrument - each one is built by hand, so the grain and colour pattern will be one of a kind. Lead time 1-4 months, 50% deposit, the rest when the instrument is ready.

Snare drums from the revived Polmuz brand bear no resemblance to their predecessors from the last century. Today, Polmuz means bold design above all, combined with proven, solid technologies known from the products of the very best brands.

Features

Thick maple shell

A shell made of 12 plies of maple, 9.4 mm thick. A thick shell doesn't vibrate as easily, so it's mainly the head that sings: fewer overtones, a focused tone and great cut in the mix.

Bearing edges

The 45° edge cut puts the shell in contact with the head at the optimal point. Every bearing edge in Polmuz drums is sanded and additionally waxed, which guarantees perfect contact between the head and the shell. The result is a clean tone across the full frequency range. The rounded edge in Polmuz snare drums delivers a fast attack, balanced resonance and, above all, a unique, slightly vintage tone.

Finish

Natural maple finished with wax in High Solid technology - a thin, hard layer that protects the wood without choking the shell.

Tube Lug

Tube Lug lugs are a signature feature of all Polmuz drums. The unique Tube Lug design makes them look like traditional hardware, but the lug body "floats" above the shell to minimise contact with the drum. This lets the whole instrument resonate across its full range. To minimise the risk of the drums going out of tune, each lug uses a long tension rod that seats deep inside it. On top of that, every rod has double protection in the form of washers - metal and nylon - which keep the tuning stable.

Chrome hardware

All hardware on Polmuz drums comes with a chrome finish. The beautiful look reflects the top quality of the materials used and breaks with the brand's unfortunate reputation from years ago. The cast badge on Polmuz shells is a real statement of quality and style. Made of solid brass, the chrome Polmuz logo is both a guarantee and a calling card of the highest level of craftsmanship in every drum.

Throw-off

Polmuz snare drums are fitted with a smooth-working throw-off. Adjustable snare wire tension lets you tailor the sound to any situation.

Heads and snare wires

The drums come with high-quality, coated single-ply batter heads. The snare wires used in Polmuz snare drums are proven 20-strand units that work perfectly with almost any resonant head. They give the snare its characteristic sound, free of unwanted overtones. The distinctive red snare wire strap carries the traditional white Polmuz logo.

Quality and Professionalism

Polmuz, like the highest series from leading manufacturers, is treated individually, meaning there can be no compromise or defect in the drum set. Each percussion element undergoes careful inspection upon unpacking and is checked with a discerning, professional eye. We strive for Polmuz to be recognized as a premium product - all shell edges must be perfectly straight and smooth, and are additionally waxed to provide an even greater sense of professionalism and comfort. As we well know, a perfectly smooth edge brings joy and satisfaction during the traditional ritual of running your hand along the edge before installing a new head, not to mention the ease of tuning the drum and the perfect sound of the shell. Additionally, all drum hardware is checked because there is nothing more pleasant than smoothly threading screws into perfectly fitted lugs. After such thorough quality control, individual components of the set receive a sticker with a serial number, date, and a handwritten signature confirming the drum's high quality. Should any defect or irregularity be found, the shell is manufactured anew.

About the Polmuz Brand

Polmuz - a legendary brand producing the first Polish drums, known to every percussionist. The company was founded in the 1960s, and its facilities were located at 75/77 Grochowska Street in Warsaw. Besides drums, Polmuz also produced percussion accessories and wind instruments. The last drums were manufactured in the late 1990s, after which they completely disappeared from the market. In 2018, the team from the specialist percussion shop DrumStore in Gdynia decided to revive the Polmuz brand by acquiring full rights to its name.

Today, Polmuz produces high-quality drum sets and ethnic instruments that are in no way inferior to the best products from competitors. Bold design combined with proven solutions has allowed Polmuz to rapidly conquer not only the Polish percussion market, but also the hearts of those who remember their first Polmuz drums.
