Quality and Professionalism

Each Polmuz model 1 is treated individually, meaning there can be no question of any defects or irregularities affecting the sound. Every percussion element is carefully inspected upon unpacking and checked with a meticulous eye. We strive for Polmuz to be recognized as a premium product—all drum shell edges must be perfectly straight and smooth and are additionally waxed to achieve an even greater sense of professionalism and comfort. As we well know, a perfectly smooth edge unleashes joy and happiness during the traditional ritual of running your hand along the edge before fitting a new head, not to mention the ease of tuning the drum and the perfect tone of the shell. Additionally, all drum hardware is checked because there is nothing more pleasant than smoothly threading screws into perfectly fitted lugs. After such thorough quality control, individual components receive a custom sticker with a serial number, date, and a handwritten signature confirming the high quality of the drum. Should any defect or irregularity be found, the shell is remade.

Features

Maple Shells

The snare drum shells in the Maple series are made from 6 plies of maple with a total thickness of 5 mm. The highest priority in designing Polmuz drums was sound. Balanced midrange and high tones ensure great versatility across many musical styles. The wood's character imparts a distinctive tone you won't experience in any other drums. The focused and pure tone of the shells was achieved through the use of carefully selected maple plies and careful attention to shell formation and edge shape.

Edges

The 45° edge cut means they contact the head at the optimal point. Each edge on Polmuz drums has been polished and additionally waxed, ensuring perfect head-to-shell contact. The result is a clear tone across the full frequency range.

Finish

The lacquered finish on Polmuz drums gives each set a unique appearance and distinctive tone. The lacquer used on the Maple Polmuz finish is of the highest quality. The gorgeous, matte, clear lacquer will delight even the most discerning tastes. To highlight the uniqueness of this model, a decorative stripe has been created around its entire circumference using the inlay method. The composition and lacquering method correspond to those used in top-tier sets from renowned brands.

Tube Lug

Tube Lugs are characteristic of all Polmuz drums. The unique Tube Lug design makes them look like traditional mounts, but the lug body "floats" above the shell, so as to minimize contact with the drum. This allows the whole to resonate across the full range of tones. To minimize the risk of tuning instability, each lug features a long screw that sits deeply within it. Additionally, each has dual security in the form of washers—metal and nylon—which guarantee tuning stability.

Chrome Hardware

All hardware on Polmuz drums is finished with a chrome coating. The beautiful appearance conveys a sense of the highest quality materials used and breaks with the brand's unfortunate reputation from years past. The cast logo on Polmuz shells is a true declaration of quality and style. Made from solid brass and chrome-plated, the Polmuz name is a guarantee and signature of the highest level of craftsmanship in each drum.

Snare Mechanism

Polmuz snares are equipped with a smooth-operating snare mechanism. The ability to adjust spring tension allows you to customize the tone depending on the situation.

Heads and Springs

Polmuz snares feature Evans HD Dry or Evans UNO heads. The springs used in Polmuz snares are the reliable Puresound Blaster 1420, which work excellently with virtually any resonant head. They enable the snare to produce its characteristic tone, free of unwanted overtones.

About the Brand

Polmuz - the legendary brand that produced Poland's first drums, known to every percussionist. The company was founded in the 1960s, and its factories were located at 75/77 Grochowska Street in Warsaw. Besides drums, Polmuz also produced percussion accessories and wind instruments. The last drums were produced in the late 1990s, after which the brand completely disappeared from the market. In 2018, the team from the specialist percussion shop DrumStore in Gdynia decided to reactivate the Polmuz brand by purchasing full rights to its name.

Today Polmuz produces high-quality percussion sets and ethnic instruments that are in no way inferior to the best products from competitors. Bold design combined with proven solutions has enabled Polmuz to storm not only the Polish percussion market, but also the hearts of those who remember their first Polmuz drums.
