Features

100% maple shells

Maple series shells are made from 6 plies of maple with a total thickness of 5 mm. Sound was the highest priority when designing Polmuz drums. Balanced midrange and high tones ensure great versatility across many musical styles. The full, powerful character and rich resonance of the shells were achieved through carefully selected maple plies and a focus on shell formation and edge shape.

Edges

A 45° angle cut on the edges means they contact the head at the optimal point on the flat surface, making tuning straightforward.

Many modern companies cut the edge so it contacts the head on the head's rounded edge, which greatly complicates tuning, especially on so-called "rag" tuning.

Each edge on Polmuz drums has been sanded and additionally waxed, ensuring optimal head-to-shell contact. The consequence of this solution is pure sound across the full frequency range. Sharp edge finish at the contact point delivers fast attack, selective, and expressive resonance.

Finish

The matte finish on Polmuz drums gives each set a unique look and distinctive sound. The lacquer used for Maple series Polmuz drums is of the highest quality.

Tube Lug

Tube Lugs are characteristic of all Polmuz drums. The unique Tube Lug design makes them look like traditional mounts, but the lug body "floats" above the shell to minimize contact with the drum. This allows the entire structure to resonate across the full sound range. To minimize the risk of drums going out of tune, each has a long screw that sits deep in the lug.

Chrome hardware

In Polmuz drums, all hardware is finished with a chrome plating. The beautiful appearance conveys a sense of highest quality materials and breaks with the brand's unfortunate reputation from years past. The cast logo on Polmuz shells is a true declaration of quality and style. Made from solid brass and chrome-plated, the Polmuz nameplate is a guarantee and trademark of the highest level of craftsmanship in every drum.

Mounting System

The non-invasive mounting system ensures maximum resonance and stability regardless of conditions. The streamlined design makes it easy to position toms closer together, providing greater freedom and comfort. Moreover, parts made from aluminum ensure lighter weight.

Lug Hooks

The lug hooks on Polmuz set stands are equipped with rubber pads that help protect their wooden hoops from damage. In this arrangement, hooks and hoops form one cohesive unit, so they don't separate or rattle even with loose tuning.

Heads

Polmuz or Remo Encore heads are used on the drums; Evans available for an upcharge.

Top and bottom resonant heads are thin Polmuz Clear. The resonant head on the stand is an excellent-sounding Polmuz fiberskin.

Heads on the stand additionally feature a wide damping collar. Resonant heads, in turn, are distinguished by their characteristic vintage-style head with a distinctive Polmuz logo.

Quality and Professionalism

Polmuz, like the highest series from leading manufacturers, is treated individually, meaning there can be no compromise or defect in the drum set. Each percussion element undergoes careful inspection upon unpacking and is checked with a discerning, professional eye. We strive for Polmuz to be recognized as a premium product - all shell edges must be perfectly straight and smooth, and are additionally waxed to provide an even greater sense of professionalism and comfort. As we well know, a perfectly smooth edge brings joy and satisfaction during the traditional ritual of running your hand along the edge before installing a new head, not to mention the ease of tuning the drum and the perfect sound of the shell. Additionally, all drum hardware is checked because there is nothing more pleasant than smoothly threading screws into perfectly fitted lugs. After such thorough quality control, individual components of the set receive a sticker with a serial number, date, and a handwritten signature confirming the drum's high quality. Should any defect or irregularity be found, the shell is manufactured anew.

About the Polmuz Brand

Polmuz - a legendary brand producing the first Polish drums, known to every percussionist. The company was founded in the 1960s, and its facilities were located at 75/77 Grochowska Street in Warsaw. Besides drums, Polmuz also produced percussion accessories and wind instruments. The last drums were manufactured in the late 1990s, after which they completely disappeared from the market. In 2018, the team from the specialist percussion shop DrumStore in Gdynia decided to revive the Polmuz brand by acquiring full rights to its name.

Today, Polmuz produces high-quality drum sets and ethnic instruments that are in no way inferior to the best products from competitors. Bold design combined with proven solutions has allowed Polmuz to rapidly conquer not only the Polish percussion market, but also the hearts of those who remember their first Polmuz drums.
