100% Tulipwood Shells

The Tulipwood series shells are constructed from 6 plies of American tulipwood, with a total thickness of 6.9 mm. Sound was the highest priority when designing Polmuz drums. Balanced mid and high tones ensure great versatility across many musical styles. The specific characteristics of tulipwood give these drums their distinctive sound, which you won't experience in any other drums. The focused and clean sound of the shells is achieved through carefully selected tulipwood plies, as well as meticulous attention to shell forming and edge shaping.

Edges

The 45° angle cut on the edges ensures optimal contact with the drumhead. Each edge on Polmuz drums has been carefully sanded and additionally waxed, ensuring perfect drumhead-to-shell contact. The result is clean tone across the full frequency range. Sharp edge finishing on tom edges delivers quick attack and short sustain, while rounded edges on bass drum generates unique, warm vintage tone.

Finish

The lacquered finish on Polmuz drums gives each set a unique appearance and exceptional sound character. The lacquer used on Polmuz Tulipwood drums is of the highest quality. The stunning oceanic color in the "fade" version, transitioning to natural, will satisfy even the most discerning tastes. The lacquer composition and application method match those used in top-tier sets from renowned brands.

Tube Lug

Tube Lug mounts are characteristic of all Polmuz drums. The unique Tube Lug construction makes them look like traditional mounts, but the lug shell "floats" above the drum shell to minimize contact with the drum. This allows the entire shell to resonate across its full sound range. To minimize the risk of drum tuning instability, each features a long screw that seats deeply into the lug. Additionally, each is equipped with double security in the form of washers—metal and nylon—which guarantee tuning stability.

Chrome-plated Hardware

All hardware on Polmuz drums features chrome plating. The beautiful appearance conveys a sense of superior quality of materials used and breaks with the brand's troubled reputation from years past. The cast logo on Polmuz shells is a true declaration of quality and style. Bass Drum Spurs

The spurs on Polmuz sets are equipped with rubber pads that help protect the wooden rims from damage. In this arrangement, spurs and rims form one cohesive unit, so they don't separate or rattle, even with loose tuning.

Drumheads

The drums feature coated, 1-ply premium quality drumheads bearing the Polmuz branding.

Bass drum heads additionally feature a wide dampening collar. The resonant heads are distinguished by their characteristic vintage-style head with a prominent Polmuz logo.

ABOUT THE BRAND

Polmuz - the legendary brand that produced Poland's first drums, known to every percussionist. The company was founded in the 1960s, with facilities located at Grochowska 75/77 Street in Warsaw. Besides drums, Polmuz also produced cymbals and wind instruments. The last drums were produced in the late 1990s, after which they completely disappeared from the market. In 2018, the team from the specialist percussion shop DrumStore in Gdynia decided to revive the Polmuz brand by acquiring full rights to its name.

Today, Polmuz represents high-quality drum sets and ethnic instruments that rival the best products from competitors. Bold design combined with proven solutions have made Polmuz rapidly conquer not only the Polish percussion market, but also the hearts of those who remember their first Polmuz drums.
