Features

Walnut shell

Walnut delivers a full, low tone while keeping the sound focused and clean. Sound was the top priority when designing Polmuz drums: balanced mids and highs that work across many musical styles.

Bearing edges

Edges cut at a 45° angle meet the head at the optimal point. Every edge on Polmuz drums is sanded and additionally waxed, which guarantees perfect contact between the head and the shell. The result is a clean tone across the full frequency range. The rounded edge in Polmuz snare drums gives a fast attack, balanced resonance and, above all, a unique, slightly vintage sound.

Finish

Black matte oil: oil rubbed in by hand in our workshop in Gdynia, with no thick layer of lacquer that would choke the shell.

Tube Lug

Tube Lug lugs are a signature feature of all Polmuz drums. The unique Tube Lug design looks like traditional hardware, but the body of the lug "floats" above the shell to minimise contact with the drum. This lets the whole instrument resonate across its full tonal range. To minimise the risk of the drums going out of tune, each lug uses a long tension rod that seats deep inside it. On top of that, every rod has double protection in the form of washers - a metal one and a nylon one - which keep the tuning stable.

Chrome hardware

All hardware on Polmuz drums comes with a chrome finish. The beautiful look gives a sense of the top quality of the materials used and breaks with the brand's unfortunate reputation from years ago. The cast logo on Polmuz shells is a genuine statement of quality and style. Made of solid brass, the chromed Polmuz badge is both a guarantee and a calling card of the highest level of craftsmanship in every single drum.

Strainer

Polmuz snare drums are fitted with a smooth-working strainer. Adjustable wire tension lets you dial in the sound to suit the situation.

Heads and wires

The drums come with coated, single-ply high quality batter heads. The wires used in Polmuz snare drums are proven 20-strand units that work perfectly with almost any resonant head. Thanks to them the snare produces its characteristic sound, free of unwanted overtones. The distinctive red snare wire strap is finished with the traditional white Polmuz logo.

Quality and Professionalism

Polmuz, like the highest series from leading manufacturers, is treated individually, meaning there can be no compromise or defect in the drum set. Each percussion element undergoes careful inspection upon unpacking and is checked with a discerning, professional eye. We strive for Polmuz to be recognized as a premium product - all shell edges must be perfectly straight and smooth, and are additionally waxed to provide an even greater sense of professionalism and comfort. As we well know, a perfectly smooth edge brings joy and satisfaction during the traditional ritual of running your hand along the edge before installing a new head, not to mention the ease of tuning the drum and the perfect sound of the shell. Additionally, all drum hardware is checked because there is nothing more pleasant than smoothly threading screws into perfectly fitted lugs. After such thorough quality control, individual components of the set receive a sticker with a serial number, date, and a handwritten signature confirming the drum's high quality. Should any defect or irregularity be found, the shell is manufactured anew.

About the Polmuz Brand

Polmuz - a legendary brand producing the first Polish drums, known to every percussionist. The company was founded in the 1960s, and its facilities were located at 75/77 Grochowska Street in Warsaw. Besides drums, Polmuz also produced percussion accessories and wind instruments. The last drums were manufactured in the late 1990s, after which they completely disappeared from the market. In 2018, the team from the specialist percussion shop DrumStore in Gdynia decided to revive the Polmuz brand by acquiring full rights to its name.

Today, Polmuz produces high-quality drum sets and ethnic instruments that are in no way inferior to the best products from competitors. Bold design combined with proven solutions has allowed Polmuz to rapidly conquer not only the Polish percussion market, but also the hearts of those who remember their first Polmuz drums.
