How much does a bubinga drum kit cost? Sample quotes with finishes
The question we hear most about bubinga drums is: how much does it cost? The drum prices are in the shop, but every kit also needs a finish, often gold hardware or stainless screws too, and it's hard to work out the final total from the list alone. So I've written out a few real setups, from the cheapest to the craziest, with the exact total.
In short
- Ready-made bubinga kits cost PLN 12,371 (22/10/12/16), PLN 12,311 (20/10/12/16) and PLN 9,704 (18/12/14). The price includes the drums with chrome hardware and heads.
- The finish is priced per drum: from PLN 100 for natural wax to PLN 990 for brush painting. Gold hardware is PLN 400 per drum.
- The cheapest finished bubinga kit is an 18/12/14 in natural wax for PLN 10,004. The examples below go up to about PLN 18,000, without a snare.
All prices are gross, from the drumstore.pl shop, as of 18 October 2026.
Where the price starts
Bubinga is a Model 1, so these drums are made by hand in our workshop in Gdynia. The shells are 100% bubinga, 4.8 mm thick, and we sand the bearing edges ultra-sharp on every drum, the bass drum included. The drum price includes chrome hardware, Evans heads, a label inside with the owner's full name and a lifetime warranty on the shell.
The easiest way to start is with one of three ready-made setups:
KitPolmuz Bubinga Model 122/10/12/16PLN 12,371
KitPolmuz Bubinga Model 120/10/12/16PLN 12,311
KitPolmuz Bubinga Model 118/12/14PLN 9,704You can also buy each drum separately and put together your own setup. All sizes and prices are in the Bubinga drums collection, and we make a size that's not on the price list for PLN 300 per drum.
What gets added to the price
A drum from the price list comes without a finish. You pick the finish and the other extras in the Polmuz Custom add-ons collection, and you multiply each one by the number of drums:
- natural wax: PLN 100,
- oil in one colour, fade or solid: PLN 500,
- lacquer: PLN 500,
- black matte: PLN 590,
- artistic finish, hand-painted with a brush: PLN 990,
- gold hardware: PLN 400 (black chrome coming soon too),
- stainless screws: PLN 39,
- double protection of the inside with oil and wax: PLN 49.
Sample quotes
Like Paweł's: 20/12/16 in natural wax: PLN 10,579
This is exactly the setup Paweł Ostrowski played in his sound test. We don't have a ready-made kit in this setup, so you put it together from three single drums. Natural wax is the cheapest finish and, in my opinion, the best one for bubinga, because you can see the whole wood figure.
- Drums (bass drum 20×16″, tom 12×9″, floor tom 16×16″): PLN 10,279
- 3 × natural wax at PLN 100: PLN 300
Most often ordered: 22/10/12/16 in wax, with stainless screws: PLN 13,123
Practically everyone takes stainless screws, and most people also add double protection of the inside with oil and wax. A single coat of oil and wax on the inside comes free with every drum.
- Drums (22/10/12/16 kit): PLN 12,371
- 4 × natural wax at PLN 100: PLN 400
- 4 × stainless screws at PLN 39: PLN 156
- 4 × double protection of the inside at PLN 49: PLN 196
22/10/12/16 in oil with a fade and gold hardware: PLN 15,971
Oil in one colour, fade or solid, plus gold hardware, which goes really well with the warm colour of bubinga.
- Drums (22/10/12/16 kit): PLN 12,371
- 4 × oil in one colour at PLN 500: PLN 2,000
- 4 × gold hardware at PLN 400: PLN 1,600
Small 18/12/14 in black matte: PLN 11,474
For clubs, jazz and the studio. Black matte hides the wood figure, but the kit looks very raw and modern, and the bubinga still gives you its low end.
- Drums (18/12/14 kit): PLN 9,704
- 3 × black matte at PLN 590: PLN 1,770
20/10/12/16 painted with a brush, with gold hardware: PLN 17,871
Our “smudges”, the artistic finish painted by hand with a brush in oil paint. There's no template for it, so there will never be a second kit like this one.
- Drums (20/10/12/16 kit): PLN 12,311
- 4 × artistic finish at PLN 990: PLN 3,960
- 4 × gold hardware at PLN 400: PLN 1,600

You can hear how bubinga sounds in Paweł Ostrowski's test in the Bubinga drums collection, and I've written about the story of this wood and how the drum is built on the maker's blog: Bubinga drums: the heavy artillery of our workshop.
